Which Edinburgh Castle combo to book
First visit. The Edinburgh Pass is the most reviewed castle combo. It covers Edinburgh Castle with a guided tour, the Palace of Holyroodhouse and the Scotch Whisky Experience Silver Tour. The castle and the palace stand at either end of the Royal Mile, and the whisky experience is right by the castle, so you can walk the whole route in a day.
Whisky and the castle. Scotch Whisky Experience + Edinburgh Castle is the simple two-part version, with a short walk between them. Its reviews are mixed, so read them. Edinburgh Castle + Holyrood Distillery Whisky & Gin Tour swaps in a distillery tasting with a welcome drink; it has only a couple of reviews.
Royal sights by bus. Two bundles are built around Edinburgh Royal Attractions Tickets with a hop-on hop-off bus: one adds a city audio guide app, the other the Scotch Whisky Experience. Both are well rated. Check the listing for exactly which royal sights the ticket covers.

Is a combo cheaper than separate tickets?
The two-part bundles are slightly cheaper than buying the parts separately. The Edinburgh Pass is priced as one product, so compare it with the tickets you would actually use. The main benefit is having the castle booked with a fixed slot, which matters in summer and during the August festivals.
How the tickets work
You pay once and receive a separate ticket for each attraction on your phone. Pick a date and entry time for the castle, and a date or slot for each other part. The castle sits on a rock at the top of the Royal Mile, so allow time for the climb up. Cancellation can differ per part, so check the conditions on the booking page.
