Which Sintra bus combo to book
Pena Palace, no car. National Palace of Pena & Park + Hop-on Hop-off Bus is the obvious pick for most first visits. The bus takes you up the hill to Pena, and the ticket includes an optional transfer inside the park. There's also a version with Priority Entry to the palace. Reviews of both are mixed, mostly about the bus, so read them first.
Castle walls. Castelo dos Mouros + Hop-on Hop-off Bus is the best-rated combo here. The Moorish Castle sits on the ridge near Pena, with wide views from the walls. It includes an optional audio guide.
Gardens. Monserrate Palace + Hop-on Hop-off Bus pairs the bus with Monserrate, further out of town and quieter. The bus is handy here, as it's a long walk from the centre.
Full day. The Sintra Bundle + Hop-on Hop-off Bus includes Pena, the Moorish Castle, the bus and an audio guide app. It covers the two most-visited sights, but it has the weakest reviews of the lot. Decide whether the bus is worth it to you or whether you'd rather take local transport.

Is a combo cheaper than separate tickets?
The palace + bus bundles are a little cheaper than the two tickets bought separately. The Sintra Bundle is a pass priced as one product, so compare it with the parts you'd use. Either way the saving is modest; the main gain is transport sorted for the hills.
How the tickets work
You book once and get a ticket for each part on your phone. Pick a date for the bus and a date or time slot for each palace. Plan your route so you reach Pena in time for your slot. Buses can be busy at peak hours, so start early. Cancellation conditions can differ per part, so check them on the booking page.
